Tana Ethiopian Cuisine is a great restaurant for meat eaters and vegetarians. The owner and his wife are very welcoming and will educate you on Ethiopian cuisine. The food is mild to moderately spiced, delicious and the experience is fun, because you eat with you hands; utensils are optional.
We usually order a combo with meat and vegetable, it is very affordable with a dinner for 2 costing around $25.
The chosen dishes are served on a large round silver platter, served with the traditional Injera. Injera is a large sourdough flatbread (about 20 inches in diameter) and made out of fermented teff flour. This is great news for people sensitive to gluten – as it is gluten free! Ethiopians eat exclusively with their right hands, using pieces of injera to pick up bites of entrées and side dishes.
Don’t miss out on the Ethiopian coffee, it is an integral part of their social and cultural life. They prepare the coffee as part of a ceremony and drinking it is an honour and part of being welcomed into the Ethiopian community. I believe by eating at this restaurant we are welcoming our Ethiopian friends into our Canadian / Brandon community.
Brandon is a richer community with ethnic and diverse restaurants, please support them!
You can phone ahead for a pick up and they will also deliver.
